教学目的、要求

Course description
A selected number of studentswho have successfully completed the Basic Writing course will engage in group-based learning activities that focus on writing as a tool to encourage and learn critical thinking. Each student will prepare a manuscript draft, whose progress will be evaluated through peer reviewing, together with critical and constructive feedback by the teaching team.

Course objectives 
The overall objective of this course is to foster scientific thinking through writing.
At the end of this course, each student should have a sound understanding of the individual steps required for drafting a high-quality manuscript in English.

Grading Scale
Your grade for this course will be determined as follows:

? Completion of manuscript draft:     60% 
? In-class participation:     30%

You should plan for approximately 4-6 hours of homework per week. Homework assignments are to be completed and turned in on the date they are due. If you miss a class, be sure to find out what assignmentsare due and complete them before the next class meeting so that you can turn in your homework on time.

Attendance and participation 
Active participation in class and completion of all tasks are essential to your success in this course, and play a major role in grading. Failure in completing a task will result in loss of points contributing toyour final score. 

If you are absent, it is your responsibility to come to the next class prepared. You need to contact the TA or fellow classmates to get up-to-date information about assignments you have missed. In class, you AREallowed to use Cellphones, iPads and Computers, for the purpose of completing any tasks given during class. You are explicitly requested to bring science books of interest.

Please note: this class will be limited to 20 students per class; if the number of enrolling students exceeds this limit, an entrance survey + test will be conducted.
